Protocols and security

Which should I choose: WireGuard, IKEv2 or OpenVPN?

Start with WireGuard — it usually gives the best latency and throughput. If the network restricts UDP, such as a corporate or campus network, switch to IKEv2, which connects more reliably. Only fall back to OpenVPN over TCP when even UDP on port 443 is blocked.

Do the three protocols differ in security?

Not materially. All three use publicly reviewed cryptographic primitives and the client implementation is unmodified, so key agreement and integrity checks follow the standard. See the protocol chapter.

Can you see what I transfer?

No. Traffic is ciphertext between the client and the exit, and exits do not parse content. We do not store destination domains, DNS queries or connection timing either.

How does disconnect protection work?

The client probes the tunnel continuously. If the handshake fails or the exit becomes unreachable it freezes the device's network access until the tunnel recovers or you turn acceleration off.

What is inside a diagnostic report?

Only the client version, the protocol in use, handshake results, error codes and link-saving samples. No access records. You can open it yourself before sending it to support.

Account and devices

What information is needed to register?

An email address and a password you choose. No phone number, identity documents or payment method. The basic tier works immediately after registration.

How many devices can be online at once?

Two on Basic, six on Plus, and as many as you buy seats for on Business. The device list is live in the account centre and old devices can be released at any time.

What happens if I exceed the device limit?

The oldest signed-in device is disconnected automatically while the new one connects normally, and the account is never restricted. You can nominate which devices to keep.

I forgot my password or never received the verification email.

Choose reset password on the sign-in page; the link stays valid for 30 minutes. If nothing arrives after 10 minutes, check your spam folder and allow-list [email protected].

Connections and speed

The client keeps showing connecting. How do I troubleshoot?

Work through it in this order — most cases clear in the first two steps:

  1. Confirm the local network loads ordinary websites;
  2. Change the protocol from WireGuard to IKEv2;
  3. Try a peering point with a higher link saving figure;
  4. Check whether you are on a corporate or campus network that shapes UDP;
  5. If so, change the port to 443 and retry.

If it still fails, export a report as described in the diagnostics chapter and open a ticket.

Why is the same node slower in the evening?

Cross-border links share egress with ordinary traffic at peak hours. QuickQ schedules per session, migrating only the affected connection when one exit congests rather than slowing the whole device.

Some local services stopped working after I connected.

Add the local NAS, printers, intranet systems and admin consoles to the direct list. Routing rules work by domain and by process, and the two can be mixed — see the routing chapter.

What link saving figure is normal?

The client shows the round-trip time saved compared with a direct connection. Nearby peering points usually save over 150 ms, intercontinental ones fall between 60 and 120 ms, and anything under 40 ms is a sign to switch.

Voice calls break up even though the figures look fine.

Voice is more sensitive to jitter than latency. If link saving is healthy but calls still break up, upstream bandwidth is usually saturated. Pin the call app to the low-latency channel and pause background syncs or large uploads.

Networks and environments

Does QuickQ work on IPv6?

Yes. The client negotiates IPv4 and IPv6 together, prefers IPv6 direct peering on dual-stack networks and enables IPv6 leak protection by default. See the dual-stack chapter.

Does it work on an IPv6-only network?

Yes. On IPv6-only networks the client performs address translation automatically, with no manual tunnel or gateway configuration.

Is it safe on café or co-working Wi-Fi?

Account credentials stay on the device and traffic is encrypted end to end once connected, so other devices on the same network cannot read it. Leave disconnect protection on and sign out when you finish.

Can I run it on a router?

Yes. We publish packages and instructions for OpenWrt 22.03 and later. Configure once and every device in the household shares the accelerated route. See the router chapter.

Plans and refunds

Which payment methods are accepted?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay and WeChat Pay, all through a PCI-DSS certified gateway.

What happens when the basic allowance runs out?

You are not disconnected — speeds are capped at 30 Mbps until the allowance resets on the first of the month. The basic tier has no auto-renewal and never upgrades itself.

How do I request a refund?

Within 21 days of buying Plus, open the subscription page in the account centre and choose request refund. No reason is required, and approved refunds return within 5 to 10 business days.

What should I attach to a ticket?

Your operating system and client version, your city and ISP, the protocol and peering point in use, when the problem started, and the exported diagnostic report.
